When flows are decent, this is a first class waterfall, worthy of four stars. It surprises many first-time visitors that come upon it in spring or early summer. The road, which was much improved when I visited last in spring, 2023, still isn't for everyone, especially those in low-clearance cars. That said, when I left last, someone was driving in in a VW Golf, so it can't be that bad!
This waterfall is featured in the 'Waterfalls of Ontario' book. Please pick up a copy to learn more. This helps to support this project. NOTE: This is a completely undeveloped spot. It isn't that far from the highway at all, but is not well visited. There are some steep cliffs and no safety railings at this waterfall. Anyone that chooses to visit must do so at their own risk.
The falls has a vertical section that is about 5-6 m tall, and a steep cascade section immediately downslope. Towards the bottom, the creek flows over a giant pile of medium sized boulders before calming dramatically in a small pond in the river. The easiest view is from across the pond. Vegetation around the pond situated downstream of the falls was recently cleared, allowing easy access to a spot to make a great panoramic shot of the falls.
