This is one of the tallest waterfall in Algonquin Park. It is well-known to paddlers, and can now be accessed at the end of a scenic 4-5 km hike. Just upstream is the infamous 'High Falls Waterslide', which is a natural slide falls over sloping rock.

I will admit, this is one 4-star waterfall that I haven't visited yet. People tell me that the landscape is beautiful, and this shows in photos. There is lots of smoothed, exposed rock to wander around. A few other waterfalls can be found in the area, including the 'Woodland Waterfall', painted by Tom Thomson (see entry for).

The trailhead is found off the Barron Canyon Rd at 45.8895, -77.6856. Some resources refer to the trail as the High Falls Cheater Trail. I believe that there is a parking area very near the trailhead. This is a fairly popular hike during summer, and I would be surprised if you found yourself alone. The elevation drop from Stratton Lake to High Falls lake is about 29 m.

NOTE: Visitors to the site during summer may see others sliding down the 'waterslide'. This project recommends against swimming or playing in any waterfalls because 'Waterfalls are not waterparks'. They are not designed nor safety checked. Due to erosion, a sharp rock section could be exposed by the river at any time. Unlike at a real waterpark, there is nobody to check to see if it remains safe.

This waterfall is coded yellow because the distance of the hike (about 4 km or so) may be too long for some visitors. Also, it is to remind visitors that the nearby 'waterslide', which looks like fun, should be approached with caution. This project recommends against swimming or wading in any waterfall.
