Our Responsibility
Waterfalls get closed when people are injured or ruin lands.

Please don't trespass, don't litter, and stay on the trail.

A water level control dam found upstream of the Hwy 60 bridge in Whitney holds back the level of Galeairy Lake, located just upstream at the west edge of the village. The road bridge gives an easy view of the dam.

Downstream of the bridge, on the side where there is no sidewalk, there is a very low rapids section right below the bridge. Bedrock just breaks the surface.

About 200 m downstream, however, the bedrock drop is sufficient to cause a barrier cascade that is about a metre in height. The bedrock surface has been smoothed by thousands of years of fluvial erosion. A slightly higher section on the south side of the river makes a great seating area for guests of Rolling Rapids Motel. Access on this side is only for patrons of the motel.

The river and waterfall can also be seen on the north side by following the rail trail east from Hwy 60. A parking spot exists in front of the village park on the west side of Hwy 60. The trailhead is about 100 m north of the bridge, opposite from Galeairy Lake Rd. About 200 m along the trail the right-of-way for the rail trail eventually meets the right-of-way for the river.

The view from the rail trail area is mediocre, and not as good as from the motel grounds. Please don't trespass; you may be able to get permission to visit if you ask the motel. But they are a business, not a waterfall visiting charity. To be honest, the Adventure Lodge Cascade and Rozy Cozy Rapids, both located 5 minutes away are more accessible and slightly better, even if still just 1 star.
